Nintendo Switch Gets Neon Yellow Joy-Con, Standalone Dock
Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct was packed with details about new games when they’ll launch, and even some new hardware. Nintendo introduced a new neon yellow Joy-Con to add a splash of color to the bland gray tablet. The neon yellow Joy-Con controllers will ship in limited qualities in June. The new color is a promotional color that’ll launch alongside ARMS, which is Nintendo’s crazy fighting or boxing game.
Before we get another Joy-Con color, we’ll get a separate dock on May 19th. The docks will have limited quantities through Nintendo’s online store and select partner stores. The partner store will likely include GameStop, Target, and Walmart. They’ll be available from May 19th on out, allowing anyone to play games on more than one TV.
Nintendo unveils neon yellow Joy-Con for ARMS launch
The yellow Joy-Con controllers add more color options to the Switch. If you mix and match colors, you’ll have a rainbow of options. Nintendo will release more colors as the Switch progresses to drum up support for other game launches but to get Switch owners to buy more accessories. Reports already claim Nintendo Switch sales have also bumped accessory sales to the highest amount in years.
The extra dock will let you move your Switch from the living room to the bedroom, while still playing on a big TV. Having an extra dock isn’t for everyone but many users will want to play their games more like a traditional console than a handheld tablet. The dock cost $59.99, which doesn’t include the A/C adapter. The adapter will cost another $29.99, but you could use an ole USB-C charger to power the Switch.
