Apple Is Working On New Version Of Mac Pro And iMac
At a recent meeting with the press, Apples said that it had plans to do more to help “professional users.”
As part of these plans, Apple is working on new version of the Mac Pro, its most powerful desktop computer. The company did not release any details regarding the revised Mac Pro, said they were “completely rethinking” the Macbook Pro. They also noted that the new computer wouldn’t be here until at least 2018. It’s rare for Apple, which has a reputation for secrecy, to make these kinds of announcements. Normally, Apple keeps things under wraps until launch events. However, it has been more than three years since the last Mac Pro was released so the company may be worried that some professional users feel abandoned.
Apple also announced that they were working on a new version of the iMac which would be aimed at professional users. There’s big plans ahead for the iMac and they’ve stated that one iMac will be specifically made for the pro consumer.
Just what those plans are exactly, however, remains to be seen. The company released new details on the upcoming “Pro” version of the iMac. We don’t even know the computer’s name. In fact, the only thing we do know is that it won’t have a touchscreen. Apple’s senior vice president of marketing, Phil Schiller, said that professional users simply aren’t interested in touchscreens so the company will not be including them on devices aimed at professionals. Schiller said that professional users were more interested in performance and storage capacity than touchscreen devices.
Schiller’s comments regarding touchscreens appear to indicate that the company has taken the lessons of last year to heart. The company’s launch of the expensive Macbook Pro with a touchbar did little to win over consumers. Many felt it was too expensive and lacked many of the features that Apple users had come to expect from the company’s products.
