Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Patch 1.1.1 Improves Performance
Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the handful of games that launched with the Nintendo Switch. Today the patch 1.1.1 update has rolled out to users. In typical Nintendo fashion, they didn’t leave any notes to what was updated or improved. The lack of patch notes has left NeoGaf users guessing what the update included. The patch was only 170mb, so the improvements weren’t massive changes. What NeoGaf users are reporting is improved performance and enhancements to the unstable framerate.
Patch 1.1.1 is the second patch the game has received since launch. Before the patch, Zelda would have significant framerate drops in the Korok Forest. Most of the frame drops happened in handheld mode, where the game became unusable. While the frame rate is improved, it’s not perfected. Some users are still reporting frame rate drops but at a lesser rate.
Patch 1.1.1. Improves the performance and fixes frame rate drops
You should be prompted to install the update next time you resume or boot up the game. The update cannot hurt so it’s best to install it and see if your Switch has less frame rate drops, or if you notice any change. I haven’t noticed any frame rate drops, so the update for me isn’t as important. On the Wii U, the patch 1.1.1 was rolled out to Zelda too. Users on the Wii U are still parsing out if the patch offers any improvements.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been a hit among Switch customers! GameStop claims the Switch and Zelda are being bundled together almost at a 1:1 rate. It’s understandable when Zelda is one of the few AAA titles out for the Nintendo Switch at the moment.
