Rumor: Photos Surface Of AMD RX 570 and RX 580
Photos have surfaced online of the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 570 and RX 580 graphical cards, which are expected to be a refresh of the current RX 400 series. Just like their predecessors, the newly photographed cards will be using the Polaris GPU.
The website Videocardz shared multiple pictures of two different graphics cards, alongside a GPU-Z screenshot. One of the two cards has the same PCB layout as the RX 470 and RX 480 and features a 6-pin power connector, this would be the RX 570.
The other GPU features an 8-pin power connector and is expected to be the RX 580. The 8-pin power connector is a noticeable bump compared to the RX 480’s 6-pin connector, and the extra power will most likely be used to increase clock speeds and avoid power throttling. This card was produced on March 3rd, has build number C940 and features a new design. The labels on the GPU confirm that a Polaris chip is being used.
The photos are accompanied by a GPU-Z screenshot with specifications of the RX 570, which are very similar to the rumors that have shown up the past days. The card would feature 2048 stream processors, 128 tmu’s and 32 rop’s. 4 gigabyte of VRAM is present, but 8 GB versions would also be made available. Clock speed remains unchanged at 1750 MHz.
Earlier rumors mentioned that the RX 500 cards would retain the Polaris GPU’s, but would be manufactured at an improved chip process. That should allow for slightly higher clock speeds, but the cards would be identical to the RX 400 models otherwise. AMD is reportedly also planning to introduce a new low-end GPU with 640 steam processors, the RX 550.
AMD has officially announced that it will be bringing it’s high-end RX Vega graphics cards in the second quarter of this year. According to VideoCardz – who have been accurate with rumors in the past – AMD will introduce the RX 500 series on April 18th. Around that time, NVIDIA will also have released slightly improved versions of their GTX 1060 and GTX 1080 graphics cards with faster memory.
