New Rumors Say The Next iPhone May Not Be As Innovative As Previously Thought
For several months, we’ve been hearing plenty of rumors about all sorts of revolutionary changes coming to the iPhone 8, but a recent leak suggests that Apple’s upcoming smartphone may be less innovative than originally anticipated. The source of these rumors comes from iDrop News which claims to have spoken with a Foxconn employee.
For starters, it might not even be called the iPhone 8; the most recent rumors say that the phone may be called the iPhone Edition. As strange as the new name may be, that’s hardly the most interesting thing about these leaks.
The rumors report that many of the past reporting on the iPhone Edition have been inaccurate. One of the most common rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone is that it would be made almost entirely of glass. However, it turns out that Apple may, instead, opt for a more traditional design with a metal backplate. Apple allegedly felt that glass was simply too fragile to use for the entire phone.
Another major departure from previous leaks is the news that on the rear of the device of the iPhone Edition will have a fingerprint scanner, as opposed to being built into the screen. Apple may have decided the technology behind a built-in fingerprint scanner wasn’t ready yet.
As disappointing as these rumors may be, keep in mind that they are just rumors. Until Apple officially unveils the newest version of the iPhone, we really don’t know what they have in store.
