Apple Launches New Special Product Red iPhone
Earlier today Apple unexpectantly took down the Apple Store, replacing the page with a message promising ‘something special’ is on the way. Apple delivered a new Product Red iPhone, new upgraded iPad, and new watch bands. We’ve had Product Red Apple products in the past including the iPod Nano and iPad. Apple has devoted some their products to the Product lineup, but we haven’t seen an iPhone up until today.
Product Red is a private organization looking to raise awareness in the private sector for HIV and AIDS. The program raises funds to eliminate AIDS and HIV worldwide. The program has partnered with Nike, EA, Starbucks, Apple, and YouTube personality PewDiePie over the years. Apple’s been one of the more active partners of Product Red. They’ve released dozens of devices to help fund the initiative.
Product Red iPhone is the first of its kind
The profits from the purchase will go towards eliminating HIV and AIDS worldwide. It’s a convenient way to contribute to a great cause but still get the new iPhone you’ve wanted. The iPhone is the same specs as the regular iPhone but with a red coloring. The iPhone will cost $749 for the 4.7-inch version and $869 for the Plus-sized version.
It’s unclear how much Apple is donating to Red, but at least a portion of the profits are going to the organization. Everyone on Twitter is reacting positively to the announcement, with many wanting to buy the red iPhone. The general problem with the red iPhone is the front of the device is white. While a white front isn’t the end of the world, many wanted a red or black front.
Tell us in the comments below what you think about the Product Red iPhone. Have you previously purchased Red Apple products? Are you going to buy the Red iPhone, or maybe you’re waiting out for the Red MacBook?
