MSI Introduces Compact, Low-Profile Versions of the RX 460
MSI has introduced a low-profile version of the RX 460 GPU. The brand is aiming for use in home theater PCs and smaller desktops. There will be two versions made available, with either 2 or 4 gigabytes of internal memory.
Both variants of the MSI low-profile graphics card will have an HDMI 2.0 and DVI-D connection. They both have a maximum length of 169 mm or 6.65 inches and fit perfectly into a low-profile enclosure. An external power connector isn’t required because the 75 watts provided by the PCIe slot is more than sufficient.
The RX 460 is AMD’s entry-level graphics card. It’s based on the Polaris 11-chip and offers 896 cores working at a clock speed of 1200 MHz. A 128-bit memory bus is used and MSI has opted for a cooling system with two fans.
When MSI’s low-profile RX 460 cards will hit the market and at what price is yet to be announced, but we figure it won’t take long before these compact RX 460 cards start popping up at retailers.
