AMD Ryzen Processors Officially Launching On March 2nd At 7:00 AM PST
The Ryzen processors from AMD will officially launch on the 2nd of March, that’s if this Sweclockers report is true. The newest lineup of processors will be based on the AM4 platform for the enthusiast, gaming, and casual market. We’ve seen reports that the launch would happen on March 2nd at exactly 16:00 CET (Central European Time) which is 7:00 AM PST (Pacific Standard Time).
AMD Ryzen has official launch date and time
Launching the AMD Ryzen marks the return of AMD to the mainstream and enthusiast processor market. It’s been five years since AMD’s last major processor launch. They’re going to give Intel stiff competition and possibly reel in a large chunk of the market. The lineup of Ryzen processors looks to compete against Intel in not only performance, but also makes gains by getting more competitive with regards to its pricing.
Some leaks from recent times suggest AMD’s competitor to Intel’s i7 6950X will be priced below $500 US while Intel’s offering is priced at $1,500. That’s a monumental difference in price, but we should wait for AMD official pricing to see what they do with their offerings. On March 2nd we’ll official see the lineup and included prices for the mainstream and more enthusiast focused processors. If the i7 competitor is priced low, we’ll likely have laptops and desktops with low entry level prices.
AMD’s processors will cover a wide range, but the first AM4 motherboards to come around will include only B350 and X370-based products. The clock speeds on the Ryzen 7 series ranges from 3.0 GHz to 3.6 GHz. They include the Ryzen 7 1700 and Ryzen 7 PRO 1700, Ryzen 7 1700X, and Ryzen 7 PRO 1800.
I’ve set the alarm for the time, and other fans have likely done the same. In the next couple of weeks, we’ll see more leaks so stay tuned as we break down all the coverage. Tell us your thoughts! What do you think about the Ryzen processor?
