The iPhone 8 Will Come With Plenty of New Features And A $1,000 price tag.
Later this year, probably in the fall, Apple will release the newest version of the iPhone. Tentatively titled the iPhone 8 and possibly the iPhone X, in honor of the device’s 10th anniversary, Apple’s newest smartphone will offer several new features and a higher price tag. Fast Company is reporting that their sources have informed them that Apple’s next smartphone might cost over 1,000. Of course, when you take into account the fact that the iPhone 7 Plus currently retails for more than $950, the 8’s price point isn’t that surprising.
Of course, the iPhone 8 will have to come with some pretty impressive features in order to justify that kind of a price and Apple appears to be rising to the challenge. Let’s start with the more obvious upgrades. For starters, it has long been rumored that Apple is planning to remove the physical Home button and to replace with a Touch ID reader integrated into the screen. Some sources have speculated that the physical buttons on the side could be replaced with touch-sensitive alternatives.
Speaking of the screen, the iPhone 8 will reportedly come with an OLED display that will allegedly takeover the whole front of the phone. Apple is reportedly tying up a large percentage of the OLED supply chain so they are clearly anticipating heavy demand. Whether or not, they will be able to meet that demand remains to be seen. The iPhone 8 will reportedly ship with a 5.8-inch OLED display. The 7S variants are not likely to have an OLED display. However, it has been reported that all three phones are likely to have glass casings and wireless charging though those rumors have not been confirmed.
Recently it was reported that the iPhone 8, along with the 7S variants, would go into production in June of this year which is a bit earlier than normal. However, Apple has given no indication that this means we’ll an early launch. As is usually the case, we’ll probably see the new iPhones launch in the fall of this year.
