Upcoming Dell XPS 15: Intel Kaby Lake CPUs, Nvidia GTX 1050 GPU
We all love the Dell XPS 15 for its portability and slim design, among other things the display is a beauty. While there are only a few laptops that can compete with the MacBook Pro, the Dell XPS 15 is one that can. Now that the MacBook has been refreshed it is logical that Dell will also be refreshing the Dell XPS 15 and the word is it that the refresh will feature the latest generation Intel Kaby Lake CPUs paired with the entry level GTX 1050.
The upcoming Dell XPS 15 wil ship with the following options for CPU configuration:
The laptop will also have 15-inch Ultra HD display. Although there might be a different option for the higher end models, we know nothing about that as of right now. To think about it the GTX 1050 would be great for light gaming considering that users will be able to get up to 4 GB of VRAM but at the i7 level, I do not think that the entry level GPU will be able to keep up with the GPU.
I know that the 1050 is great as compared to integrated graphics and all that but looking at how the Dell XPS 15 is a flagship device which is aimed at the high-end market we expect more than an entry level GPU. Sure the GPU will be great for light gaming and minor video editing but that is pretty much all that you will be able to do. Do not take me wrong, it is great that the laptop will feature the 1050 with its 15-inch Ultra HD display. But the thing is that when you are paying top dollar for a premium device you expect to get more.
I am sure that the people at Dell are working on the best configuration possible for the laptop. Keeping in mind the small form factor it would be hard to fit something more powerful into such a small chassis but it is not impossible looking at the Razor Blade Pro. What do you think about the upcoming Dell XPS 15?
