Ashley Madison To Pay $1.6 Million To Settle U.S Investigation
Ashley Madison is a dating site where you can cheat on your spouse and previously in 2015 a hacking group was able to hack into the site and make information available to the public that causes chaos in the lives of some of the site’s users. Now however Ashley Madison is willing to play an amount of $1.6 million in order to settle the case and end investigations.
According to FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez:
“This case represents one of the largest data breaches that the FTC has investigated to date, implicating 36 million individuals worldwide. The global settlement requires AshleyMadison.com to implement a range of more robust data security practices that will better protect its users’ personal information from criminal hackers going forward.”
Ashley Madison believes that this settlement will be the best thing for the site and its members as well. Here is what chief executive Rob Segal had to say:
“Today’s settlement closes an important chapter on the company’s past and reinforces our commitment to operating with integrity and to building a new future for our members, our team and our company,”
There has been a lot of commotion around the Ashley Madison hack and there have been a couple of people that have been caught cheating so you can see why people would be affected by this adult dating site. This settlement might as well be great for the company and the members but it still means nothing for the significant others.
It has also been heard that the site has been using bots in order to attract men into purchasing their surface but the company has claimed to have stopped using bots since then. No matter what the company says this is still a very shady business to get into. This goes to show you can get caught over the internet as well. What do you think about Ashley Madison?
