Qualcomm SnapDragon 835 Based On 10 nm FinFET Process Announced
The Qualcomm SnapDragon 835 will be made in collaboration with Samsung on the 10-nanometer FinFET process. With the new 10 nm process, the footprint of the CPU will be smaller allowing for other modules to be installed in smartphones. In other words, this will save space for other things.
With the Qualcomm SnapDragon 835 smartphone manufacturers can either make their devices slimmer, or they can pack a bigger battery into phones. Whatever manufacturers decide to do with the free space, it will be openly appreciated.
The company claims that the Qualcomm SnapDragon 835 CPU will deliver 27% better performance and will be 40% more power efficient. This means that the smartphones that will feature the Qualcomm SnapDragon 835 will have longer battery life and will be able to pull off multitasking better as compared to previous generation phones.
Not many details have been revealed about the new mobile CPU but we do know that it will support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0. This will allow users to charge their devices up to 20% faster as compared to Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
It is nice to know that devices featuring the Qualcomm SnapDragon 835 will not only have better battery life but they will charge faster as well. This will decrease wall hugging significantly.
The first devices that will feature this processor will start showing up in the first half of 2017. We know that Qualcomm is a huge mobile CPU manufacturer and we can expect the majority of the high-end smartphones to feature the Qualcomm SnapDragon 835 CPU. This includes the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8.
New reports claim that the high-end version of the mobile processor can hit 3 GHz, if this is the case then we are looking at a really efficient CPU.
