Report Claims PS4 Pro Casing Melts Becuase Of Extreme Heat
It just seems like a bad year for tech in general. While there have been a couple of heated incidents this year, this one concerns the PS4 Pro. A user has reported that his PS4 Pro case side melted while he was gaming. Here we have the image that was captured by the user.
This is an initial report and we are not sure whether this is genuine or not. It is possible that this could be a prank and that this hole has been made with a blow torch, which would be fairly easy. We do not know what the PS4 Pro is made of so it is hard to figure out how much temperature would cause this melt to happen.
Twitter user @enMTW has kicked off #meltgate as a form of spreading the word. Sony has claimed that the PS4 Pro runs at a cool 35C and we have already talked about this in the past. While this claim is being made it is possible that the PS4 Pro runs hotter than 35C while playing games at 4K.
The user was asked which game he was playing when this happened and he replied that he was playing The Last of Us: Remastered, which runs at native 4K, and Final Fantasy XV’s Judgement Disc.
The original PS4 did not melt even when hitting extremely hot temperatures of 70C but that console did have other issues like thermal compound cracking and what not. We have yet to see what Sony has to say about this PS4 Pro melting incident.
Whether or not this is true only time will tell and we will let you know about the progress of this story and whether or not more cases similar to this come up in the future.
How is your PS4 Pro working out for you?
