GIGABYTE Planning To Sell AORUS Branded Motherboards and GPUs Next Year
AORUS is the premium brand from GIGABYTE, just like Asus ROG and the likes. AORUS has been making its mark in the PC industry with the introduction of AORUS branded gaming laptops as seen at Pax 2016 and other events. Now GIGABYTE has new plans for the brand and it seems that the company will start selling AORUS branded motherboards as well as GPUs starting next year.
AORUS branded motherboards will feature the LGA1151 socket based on the Intel 200 series chipset and will come with 7 series CPUs compatibility out of the box. AORUS branded motherboards will come out January 2017 and we can expect to see AORUS branded GPU with the introduction of the next generation GPUs, like AMD Vega and you can consider the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti as well.
GIGABYTE has tried its luck with this brand twice before and this will be the third time that the company is going to try and push the AORUS brand forward. AORUS branded motherboards and GPUs might be appreciated by the people if there was some sort of reminder that GIGABYTE was behind it. Much like the Strix series from Asus, that makes it clear that Asus is behind the product.
AORUS brand, on the other hand, gives no clear indication of its association with GIGABYTE. The third time may do the trick for the company, you never know. In theory, AORUS branded motherboards and GPUs are all well and good but we will need to see a firm and extensive execution from GIGABYTE to make this work.
As much as I admire the company for its efforts I do believe that GIGABYTE would be better off branding their premium products under the GIGABYTE label and keeping it mainstream rather than creating another separate brand.
What do you have to say about AORUS branded motherboards and GPU coming out next year?
