AMD RX 470D To Take On The Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
It seems that AMD has overreacted to the Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti being launched at such a price point and offering such performance that now there is news of a new cut-down GPU that AMD is releasing in order to deal with this new threat. The GPU in question is the AMD RX 470D, although there are still rumors about this GPU there has been confirmation regarding the specifications of an XFX AMD RX 470D variant which has the following features:
- Double dissipation cooler
- 1792 stream processors
- Clocked at 1226 MHz
- 4 GB of GDDR5 memory at 7.00 GHz
- TDP of 110W
As the AMD RX 470D is a cut-down version of the AMD RX 470 you can expect to get 80% of the performance of the RX 470 for about $130-140. This GPU will come between the AMD RX 460 and the RX 470. How well this GPU turns out to be is something only time will tell but I have to say that the release of this GPU makes little sense.
Nvidia is releasing the 1050 Ti to take on the RX 470 and now AMD is releasing a GPU to rival a GPU that already rivals their GPU? That makes zero sense. Some rumors claim that this GPU will only be coming out for China so it is possible that most of us will not be able to get out hands on one.
What do you think about the AMD RX 470D coming out between the RX 470 and RX 460?
