AMD Radeon RX 460, RX 470 Price Drops In Anticipation of 1050 Ti
We talked about how clearly AMD was overreacting to the launch of the new 10 series GPUs the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti. Rumor has it that AMD is launching a cut-down version of the RX 470 the RX 470D or the RX 470 SE. Now we see that AMD has taken things a step further with AMD Radeon RX 460 and RX 470 price drops. These price drops were predictable and now they are official.
- AMD Radeon RX 460 – $99 (old price – $109)
- AMD Radeon RX 470 – $169 (old price – $179)
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 – $109
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti – $139
According to the new pricing, the AMD Radeon RX 460 will be up against the GTX 1050 and while the RX 470 is still expensive as compared to the Ti version of 1050 there will be an aftermarket version coming out that will match the price. So we can see that these four GPUs will be up against one another. The 1050 and 1050 Ti are going to launch soon and we will be able to see what kind of performance these GPUs will have to offer.
Both GPUs are great value for money, at least, the GTX 1050 seems to be great value for money. We will have to see how it holds up when it comes to in-game performance. The GTX 1060 did put a stop to the RX 480, now the GTX 1050 could do the same for the rest of the AMD lineup as well.
We will have to see what happens. As AMD cards are cheaper than the Nvidia ones, things could go either way.
Both 10 series GPUs come out on October 25, 2016. Stay tuned for that. What do you think about these AMD Radeon RX 460 and RX 470 price drops? Would you consider buying one now that the prices have come down a bit?
