Nintendo Switch Pre-order Price: $999 In Australia
The Nintendo Switch has just been revealed yesterday and the leaks were right, most of the at least. It will be a handheld and console hybrid. The Nintendo Switch will allow you to play games on the go as it is a handheld device and when you are home you can slide the Nintendo Switch into the Hub and you will be able to play games on your TV like you would on any other console. Here we have some Nintendo Switch Pre-order price insights.
Australian game retailer EB Games has a placeholder price of AUD $999 for the Nintendo Switch this converts to $762 USD which is very expensive for a handheld device, more expensive than the Xbox One S or the PS4 Pro as a matter of fact. This was very shocking as I had imagined that it would be closer to the $300 mark like the Xbox and PS4 Pro.
A custom Nvidia Tegra processor powers the Nintendo Switch. A huge concern is compatibility with Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games, Nintendo has said that the Nintendo Switch will replace neither platform. This means that this will be an independent platform and you will need to get games for it separately. Unless the company brings some kind of compatibility to the table later on.
When it comes to the battery life of the device Nintendo has claimed to make the battery as long lasting as possible even in situations where you do not have a power cord nearby. Previously it was rumored that the Nintendo Switch would also be able to run some mobile games as well. When this concern was raised with Nintendo the representative said that he could not answer that question at this point.
This could mean that they have not decided whether to let users play mobile games on the device or the company has not figured out how to enable that feature yet. March is still pretty far away so there is ample time for the company to make things work out.
