Raptr Gaming Evolved App No Longer Supported By AMD
For better or for worse we all know about the Raptr Gaming Evolved app, which allows you to monitor different setting and optimize games. Now, however, it seems that AMD has silently stopped supporting the Raptr Gaming Evolved app. If you setup a new PC and update to the latest drivers you will find that the Raptr Gaming Evolved app does not come bundled with the update. This applies to the Radeon Crimson 16.10.1 driver and beyond.
The Raptr Gaming Evolved app still works and you can download it from the Raptr site if you really want to but being an AMD user myself I can say that most people are not going to want to do that and that people are going to appreciate the fact that the app no longer comes bundled with the updates.
According to AMD:
Starting September 12th 2016, AMD is no longer bundling the ‘AMD Gaming Evolved App’ by Raptr with builds of Radeon Software. The application will still work. AMD will cease to undertake any compatibility testing, install support or general technical support for this application, nor will it be available through Radeon Software or its installer. Previous builds of Radeon Software that include the ‘AMD Gaming Evolved App’ dated before September 12th 2016 will remain intact and will not be affected.
In previous months we have seen some great software support from the company and this makes us wonder what AMD has planned for the future of the Radeon Crimson Suite. It is possible that the company is working on something new or maybe they guys at Radeon are simply letting the idea go.
We could have something new coming up in the winter, something new that will replace the annoying Raptr Gaming Evolved app. But for now I am pretty sure everyone is happy that it is no longer there.
