D-Wave Systems 2000-qubit Quantum Processor Previewed
D-Wave Systems previewed their new 2000-qubit quantum processor at the first users conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The 2000-qubit quantum processor has double the number of qubits as compared to the previous D-Wave 2X system. You can imagine that this enables the processor to deal with more intensive and complex problems while using less time in doing so.
Tests show that the 2000-qubit quantum processor gains a performance boost of 1000x as compared to the D-Wave 2X system. The company has been able to build a quantum computing system around this processor. The new system can also be tweaked and tinkered with to adjust the quantum annealing process according to the problem at hand.
NASA and Google have also helped get the 2000-qubit quantum processor to where it is today.
D-Wave Systems is currently working on software in order to train quantum programmers as well. The 2000-qubit quantum processor is a huge improvement over the previous one that we have seen. D-Wave System seems to know what it is doing and it seems that the company has a clear idea of the direction that it wants to go ahead in.
