Report: Global GPU Market to Surpass 67.61 Million Units by 2020
Reports suggest that by the year 2020 global GPU market will surpass 67.61. While there is a good reason behind this, there are also challenges across the board. One of them being the shift from PC to mobile devices. On the other hand, the increasingly demanding games are urging manufacturers to make high memory GPUs. Hence increasing the global GPU market. So the coin flips both ways, so to say.
People today also favor integrated graphics over discrete graphics for a number of reasons. For one, they are much cheaper than discrete graphics but then again they are not as powerful either. So there is a trade-off that you must face here. Needless to say, manufacturers are pushing out integrated graphics in their products in order to meet this ever growing demand for integrated graphics in the global GPU market.
The recent trend is that people are moving from PC to portable, mobile products. This applies to both gaming as well as productivity segments of the market. As portable devices are getting more and more powerful as time passes this shifting trend seems to be here to stay and we might not see a shift back to PC anytime soon. This change seems to be permanent.
We have seen how the decrease in PC demand has affected players like Intel and other companies. Like we said, it could be possible that the global GPU market will surpass 67.61 but this will not be an easy goal and there will be plenty of hindrances in the way. Some of them we have talked about here, there are more that we have not talked about here.
Whether or not global GPU market will surpass 67.61, only time will tell. What do you think about this report about global GPU market? Let us know in the comments section.
