Project Scorpio Will Be A Native 4K Gaming Console; 3840×2160 Res
Finally, Microsoft has told us something about the upcoming 4K gaming console, codenamed Project Scorpio. It is something that we all wanted and hoped to hear. The company has finally stated that the Project Scorpio will be a native 4K gaming console which will run games at 3840×2160 resolution. Yes, people. Native 4K and no upscaling trickery like the Sony PS4 Pro.
This is what Microsoft’s Loftis has to say about the matter:
“Any games we’re making that we’re launching in the Scorpio time frame, we’re making sure they can natively render at 4K.”
Until now, Microsoft has referred to the term True 4K and not Native 4K and that is for good reason as well. But now, we have a clear indication of what to expect from the Project Scorpio 4K gaming console. But then again, there is an issue here as well.
Although Microsoft Studios are going to be taking advantage of this tech and going to be releasing games in 4K for the Project Scorpio 4K gaming console, there is still no certainty that other studios and game developers will also follow in the companies footsteps. Yes, you have the power to do so but will you? That is the question here.
Studios and game developers could opt to stick to 1080p and enhance the graphics or make the game better in some other way that takes advantage of the higher performance of the Project Scorpio 4K gaming console. They could easily not use the 4K capability at all.
This is something we will have to look into before we can be sure whether all this power will be worth it or not. Keep in mind that the power the console will be pretty expensive and all that money would go to waste if there are only a few games that take advantage of the tech.
What do you think about the Project Scorpio 4K gaming console being able to run games at 3840×2160 resolution?
