PC Storage Trends: Majority PCs To Have SSDs By 2018
We talk about PC hardware trends from time to time as is the nature of the work we do here at TechFrag. When it comes to PC storage trends, analyst figure that by 2018 people will move majorly to SSD storage instead of the of traditional HDD storage that we are all used to. This is not something pulled out of thin air, there is logical backing and proper data behind these trends and we are going to share these trends with you today.
Hard disk revolutionized PC storage when they came out and that was a big deal back then. We were later on introduced to SSD storage and that is when this new PC storage trend emerged. But back then programs were smaller and SSDs storage was a very expensive option which many people could not afford. Things have changed now.
Nowadays, 1 TB of storage is pretty standard if you are not living under a rock some place. People even have secondary external drives in addition to their primary storage solutions. So you can imagine the need for fast data transfers.
SSDs are pretty cheap now and are no longer out of reach for the everyday man. You can get one for close to the price of an HDD. PC storage trends clearly show that 33 percent of PCs sold this year came with an SSD. This should grow to 56 percent by the year 2018. This is an incredible increase. If the forecast holds true then this means that people are ditching HDDs for faster storage and transfer rates.
What do all these PC storage trends mean? Simple, people want faster data transfers so they are slowly but surely moving to SSDs. SSDs decrease game loading time as well as OS boot times so that is another plus point of housing an SSD in your PC.
What do you think about these PC storage trends? Have you got an SSD yet?
