USB Type-C Might Make The Headphone Jack Obsolete After All
Remember previous rumors which suggested that the upcoming iPhone would not have a headphone jack and you will need to get lightning headphones or use Bluetooth ones instead. Well, it seems that Intel has similar things planned but Intel is not going to make you use the lightening connector. It plans on using the USB Type-C connector instead.
People need time to adapt to change and even if right now it seems like a big deal not to have a headphone jack on the new iPhone 7, I am sure when it comes out people will get used to it. We all have to change according to the times and technology as well. Same is the case here. USB Type-C is being used in more devices every day and Intel employees Rahman Ismail and Brad Saunders think that USB Type-C could be the next step forwards.
According to the two, the USB Type-C connector could offer everything that the headphone jack can. This includes the extra bass that we are used to when we plug in our headphones. USB Type-C can also offer other features like noise cancellation and improved audio.
As more devices start rolling out with USB Type-C, it is possible that companies will stop including the headphone jack altogether so that users will have to move on with the times and use USB instead. I know it sounds scary right now but change is scary and no one likes it at first but things should work out as planned if all goes well.
What do you think about having no headphone jack with your device? I think the only drawback would be not being able to plug in headphones and charge your phone at the same time. Other than that I do not see why this could not be a thing in the future.
