HTC And AMD Confirm Presence At Gamescom 2016
Gamescom 2016 is almost here, in fact it’s only a week away now, and from the looks of things, this year will be big for Virtual Reality. A few big VR companies have already confirmed their presence at the event and the latest to join those names are AMD and HTC, two of the biggest juggernauts in the current VR industry.
According to HTC, the company will be there with the Vive headset which they made in collaboration with Valve, as well as “a host of new Vive content”. HTC and AMD will both have a joint booth at the show floor.
The booth will contain six Vive demo stations for players to check out the technology in action alongside a mixed reality, where they could receive footage of their VR experience created through a green screen, which the company also featured at their E3 booth.
What exactly will AMD be showcasing on the booth is unclear but most probably it will be some tech demos or new VR related technology to enhance the experience (maybe something along the lines of Foveated rendering by Nvidia)
Since demand for Vive will be high, attendees can go to the HTC/AMD booth during the morning and book a slot for themselves to try out the Vive demos as well as take part in some cool competitions.
Apart from these two big companies, Oculus VR (owned by Facebook) and Samsung have also confirmed that they will be on the Gamescom floor.
Gamescom 2016 will be featuring four talks based on VR and Augmented Reality, hosted by various German organizations and speakers, which anyone at the event can attend. Budding developers interested in VR should definitely check that out.
Ubisoft is also expected to reveal their future VR games lineup during Gamescom 2016. Hopefully, fans will get to have another look at the anticipated Eagle Flight and Star Trek Bridge Crew VR experiences as well as a hands-on experience.
Gamescom 2016 is scheduled to being on 18th August in Cologne, Germany.
