Samsung Might Ditch Flat Screen Galaxy S In the Near Future
We saw the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the first of its kind. Then we got the S7 Edge, which improved upon the previous version. Now, we have the new Galaxy Note 7 which also has a curved display. Get the picture? If you see the pattern here then it is most likely that the company will ditch flat screen Galaxy S smartphones. This could be the next step forward for the smartphone manufacturer.
Samsung has hinted at the fact that the company will now be diverting its attention towards equipping upcoming smartphones with similar curved displays and that they might even ditch flat screen Galaxy S. Now that the company has innovated to the next level and have come up with such a design it would be the wise choice to stick to it.
Recently, we heard rumors about the iPhone patent and that it could also have a curved display. We also heard that the company that will be supplying these displays will be Samsung. Curved displays seem to be the future and Samsung has got there first.
Koh Dong-jin, the head of the tech giant’s mobile business said in an interview:
Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions for the curved screen.
This could tell us about the Galaxy S8 display. A phone that will be coming out in 2017.
A market watcher also stated the following:
Samsung will not likely get rid of the flat screen Galaxy S smartphone model right away, but if the market response is positive with the Note 7, it would surely serve as a cue for Samsung to focus only on the Edge model.
Surely such drastic changes cannot be made overnight but this could be the way of the future. If the response is as expected then there is no reason why Samsung would stick to the flat screen Galaxy S.
