Doom Vulkan Support Now Available In Playable Demo
A few days back, we talked about Doom Vulkan Support and how the RX 480 beats the GTX 1060 at every resolution because of the Doom Vulkan support. Although the GTX 1060 beats the RX 480 in almost every other game, Doom is just an exception. Sadly, not many games come with Vukan support though this could be a huge advantage for gamers that have AMD GPUs on board.
Now, Doom Vulkan support is also available for the playable demo of the game. So if you have not tried out Doom or if you just want to check out how your RX 480 tackles Doom Vulkan support then you can download the playable demo and get right to it. If you are going to do this then you will have to update your drivers to AMD.s 16.7.2 driver or if you have a Nvidia GPU then you will need the Nvidia 368.69 driver.
Doom is a popular game today and with Doom Vulkan support, users can play the game even with mid-ranged GPUs. This API allows gamers to get decent graphics and decent FPS on entry level GPUs. Doom has been a great success so far and I hope that more game developers choose to go with the Vulkan API so more gamers can take advantage of their GPUs and play demanding games better.
Whether or not developers choose to go with the Vulkan API is all up to them and we can only hope for the best. If developers do decide to go down this road then team red users will have a great advantage. Not only are AMD GPUs cheaper, with Vulkan support they will get a better gaming experience than before. We also have DirectX 12 in the works and right now we have not seen much improvement in-game. At least, not as much as we all had expected.
