Once you have gone through these steps in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Cortana will revert back to the traditional search you had earlier. I think that Cortana is a really great digital assistant and being a Windows Mobile user I found it very helpful in my daily activities. Not only is the AI realistic and lifelike, unlike Siri, I found that it reminded me of things that I had to do even when I had not asked her to remind me at all.
With Cortana, I never forgot anyone’s birthday and was the first one to wish a friend. This is my experience with the digital assistant which has been great. I realize that not everyone shares my views so if you want to get rid of Cortana you can disable Cortana in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
