Xiaomi Laptop Details Leaked Prior To Expected Announcement Event, Seem Expensive
The long rumored Xiaomi laptop might finally be making an appearance according to some recent leaks. The Xiaomi laptop, part of their Mi lineup and first member of the Mi notebook family is expected to get an official announcement in just 2 days’ time, on 27th July alongside the launch of Redmi Pro.
The recently leaked images, first spotted by GizmoChina, reveal a lot of alleged details about the upcoming notebook including hardware specifications and pricing while it also gives a fair warning that they have no way to confirm the authenticity of the leaked images.
There will apparently be two variants of the Xiaomi laptop. The Pro model as name suggests will be equipped with some high end hardware including a 6th gen Core i7 processor, a GTX 970 GPU, 16GB of DDR4 memory, 512GB of storage and a 4K display all for the total cost of 6,699 yuan which is around a $1,000.
While the other specifications seem great for the price, the lack of storage might be a bummer for some but the fact that the storage drive is a SSD and not a regular HDD is great.
The standard edition of the Mi notebook will feature a 6th gen Core i5 processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB storage for around $599. This seems a little bit expensive when compared to the high end model especially when considering the lack of a GPU and a 4K display.
Both of these laptops aren’t exactly budget friendly and Xiaomi will have a hard time selling them in the market considering big competitive companies like HP and Dell have great products in this price range too. This might mean that initially only the hardcore Xiaomi fans would end up purchasing these laptops.
Perhaps Xiaomi knew of this too and this is why there are rumors circling around that initially the company will only be making around 300,000 units of these laptops, equally divided for both these variants.
