Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Might be Used in HTC Nexus
Earlier reports stated that the upcoming 2016 Huawei Nexus would feature the SnapDragon 820 processor. Now there are new reports that claim that the Huawei Nexus phone would, in fact, feature the SnapDragon 821.
The SnapDragon 821 is faster than the previous one but we have already talked about how fast it exactly is and a 10% increase may not seem that significant to many smartphone manufacturers.
This might be the reason why we are hearing that the HTC Nexus will be featuring the SnapDragon 820 instead of the SnapDragon 821. These are rumors and there is no certainty that this will be as claimed but there is a chance that some smartphone manufacturers will move on to the newer, faster, SnapDragon 821 processor.
Whether or not manufacturers move on to this new processor or not is a matter of preference in my opinion. Some may think that this 10% is significant enough to make the change while others will make do with older processors and save on R&D for better battery life.
Smartphone battery life has always been an issue, especially in Android devices. I have yet to use an Android Smartphone that can last more than a day according to my usage. I am a power user and I usually need to charge my phone once a day and at times even twice a day. So that factor also has to be considered.
These Nexus phones are two of the most anticipated phone of 2016 and they are flagship devices so we expect nothing less than the best from both Huawei and HTC. Let’s see what they both come out with and which SnapDragon processors they will choose to use. Who will go with the SnapDragon 821 and who will go with the 820. We will soon find out.
Do you think that these companies should move on to the SnapDragon 821? If you are a Nexus user then which processor would you want in the new Nexus phones?
