Steam Hardware Survey, Gamers Use Nvidia 56%, AMD Down To 25%
This survey shows that 56% gamers use Nvidia GPUs while 25% use AMD graphics cards for gaming. This spike in Nvidia GPU users could be due to the fact that Nvidia is the performance king with their new GTX 1080 which is the most powerful single card that you can buy on the market right now and it is also best-selling till date.
In January 2015 that AMD had 28.9% of the pie which has decreased over the course of time. The GTX 1080 and 1070 did release a whole month before the RX 480 and I am sure that now that the RX 480 has come out the AMD percentage will increase as more gamers are budget gamers. The Steam hardware survey for the next 12 months will show that the AMD RX 480 has been a success with the gamers.
Due to the economy of the RX 480 and the price to performance ratio it is bound to make a difference in the Steam hardware survey. But then again there is the GTX 1060 which is coming out soon and it is claimed to beat the RX 480.
Though I doubt that the price will be the same or anywhere near. It is possible that team green fans will wait for the Nvidia GTX 1060 and will not buy the RX 480.
Then again we know that the first batch of RX 480 has sold out and it is pretty hard to find one in the U.S right now. It is safe to say that these Steam hardware survey numbers are going to change now because of the budget oriented RX 480 as more and more people come to the red team because of their budget offering. We will also see more gamers come to the PC platform in order to experience VR.
