XFX RX 480 Black Edition Overclocked Will be Available at Launch, Better Choice?
AMD has partners that are rebranding the RX 480. AMD has allowed partners to overclock the GPUs slightly. XFX is the first partner to come out with factory overclocked cards. At launch, we will be seeing three versions of the XFX RX 480. The standard reference design the XFX RX 480 Black Edition as well as the XFX RX 480 Black Edition OC.
The XFX RX 480 Black Edition OC has a factory overclock as well as a cool looking black colored backplate to go with the card. The factory overclock is 1328 MHz. The XFX Black Edition also has a factory overclock but only at 1288 MHz.
There is only a day left will the launch of these cards. AMD has created a lot of hype around these cards and people are excited about getting their hands on these GPUs. The demand is high for these budget oriented cards but you do not need to worry about that.
AMD has taken care of stocks and you will not be coming home empty handed. There are other vendors that will be shipping their reference design cards. Later on, we will see custom design RX 480 GPUs coming out as well.
I am sure just like the GTX 1080 and 1070 the custom models will be much better than the reference design. Still, people will be buying the first cards that come out no matter what you say. Having said that I have also ordered my RX 480 and it will be here soon. So I am as excited about it as you all are.
I hope the GPU does meet the expectations of the people. It will be a huge bummer if it does not. It does not even need to beat the GTX 980. Even if it is a good capable card at such a price I think that will be reason enough for the masses.
