Microsoft Forced to Pay $10,000 Through Lawsuit for Aggressive Windows 10 Upgrades
Have you already upgraded to Microsoft Windows 10? If not, you must be aware how forcefully Microsoft is trying to push Windows 10 update running older operating systems.
Due to this practice, Microsoft was forced to compensate a Windows user for forceful and unwanted installation of Microsoft Windows 10 on her computer.
Teri Goldstein, an operator at a Californian travel agency, was recently provided with $10,000 USD through a lawsuit that stated that Microsoft’s constant pushing of Win.10 operating system caused her PC to become slow and unresponsive.
Following this, Goldstein sued Microsoft for the cost of a new computer and lost profits after Microsoft Support failed to provide her with a working solution to get her computer back to working state.
As reported by SeattleTimes; Microsoft originally appealed the judgement, but later dropped it in order to avoid the expense of further litigation by handing Goldstein $10,000 USD.
Released back in July 2015, Microsoft Win. 10 is available as a free upgrade to anyone running Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1. With a few hiccups here and there, Microsoft Windows 10 has generally been widely appraised by the critics, but Microsoft’s aggressive practice of getting the newest operating system on as many systems as possible is certainly questionable.
Although I recommend upgrading to Windows 10 – at least to gamers – in case you do not want to, you will stop getting all upgrade notifications come Jul. 29, 2016 which is the day when Microsoft will stop sending out Free Windows 10 Upgrade notifications.
