MSI Also Responds to OC Mode GTX 1080s Being Sent to Press
Recently we saw that MSI was sending reviewers OC Mode GTX 1080s as a default while consumer grade cards had game mode.
OC Mode GTX 1080s mode had slightly better performance and it was a matter of time before someone noticed the difference. According to MSI most reviewers do not use their gaming app so they sent the press the OC Mode GTX 1080s. This is true bit it is still wrong.
This will close the gap between what was sent to reviewers and what is being sent out to the public and people now will have the same clock and boost speeds. 1607 MHz and 1797 MHz respectively. The difference is not all that significant but a difference is a difference none the less in this case.
Why MSI would choose to put their name at stake with such a move is beyond me. Years of being in the industry do not add up to a single card review. Whatever happened to transparency. I am sure the reviewers were not told about these differences in advance. MSI can back up their actions any way they like but the public is not going to be fooled so easily.
It is disgusting how low big names in the business will stoop to get a positive review of their product and create a hype even if it is not real at all. There should be more transparency and everyone should be getting the same product with same specs. I am amazed how MSI thought they would get away with this. People are not fools especially reviewers, they know what they are doing.
