GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming; Only Custom GTX 1070 from Gigabyte
The much anticipated GTX 1070 went up for sale recently and it was just a matter of time before vendors introduced their custom versions of the card. The latest custom version of the GTX 1070 by Gigabyte is the GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming. For now, this is the only custom GTX 1070 version by Gigabyte.
Though the reference 10 series cards are no slouch it is much more interesting to see what vendors are doing with their custom designs. How they are spicing things up is very interesting indeed. I am not talking about aesthetics only here, vendors are also improving their designs to provide better performance.
The GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming has both a custom PCB design as well as a five phase design that affects overclocking. Though this card is being branded as an OC Edition card Gigabyte has yet to release clock speed statistics regarding the GPU.
The Gigabyte Windforce 3X cooler makes a return with the GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming and it is no surprise looking at how effective the cooling is. The GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming also comes with RGB lighting at the sides with numerous preset configurations that you can play around with. I know that this might not be big news for some users but for people like me, who like to have a glass side panel, this is a big deal indeed. Having a nice view to look at is always a great thing.
The GPU only has a single 8-pin connector for powering it. The GPU also features a dual-link DVI port as well as three DisplayPort 1.4 ports and a HDMI 2.0 port.
There is no doubt that in terms of aesthetics the card is better than the Founders Edition by Nvidia. Now we just have to wait for the numbers to come out so that we can see the performance side to the story too.
