HTC Vive Business Edition has Same Specs but Higher Price
HTC just announced an HTC Vive business edition which would have the same specifications as that of the consumer version but will cost $1200 instead of the standard $799. This might seem very odd to you but with this edition you do get warranty and a dedicated line for support.
HTC does not cover warranty for the Vive for commercial purposes with this edition you will be able to claim warranty if something goes wrong. You also get the option to purchase in bulk. Keep in mind that HTC has a one device rule per house hole for consumers. This will not be a limiting factor for the HTC Vive Business edition.
Normal consumers would find this offering odd but this might be a huge advantage for business enterprises. With the dedicated line business will have more access to troubleshooting. With VR being a relatively new technology you may not be able to find solutions to the problems you encounter readily available online.
Who better to ask for help than the people that made the product in the first place?
You do need a dedicated space to use the HTC Vive business edition and for some people this is a huge downside. For other people the price is the factor that puts them off. But I think that this device provides one of the best VR experiences that money can buy. Provided that you have it properly setup.
In short with the Vive Business edition, firms will be paying more but with the provided facilities companies will also be saving time and money in the process. Time and money are both crucial resources for any business today.
