Next-gen Xbox Will be 40% Smaller and Support 4K Gaming
With E3 2016 just a few days from now, rumors concerning the next-gen Xbox are starting to come up again and sources tease about the Xbox One successor being 40% smaller and adding support for 4K gaming. Having a smaller form factor more powerful Xbox would be a great offering from Microsoft but will it be enough to face the much anticipated PlayStation Neo? That is a big but.
Xbox has a ton of issues with it which need to be resolved in the coming days before the launch of the upcoming smaller Xbox refresh. Yes Cortana will be on the Xbox soon with the upcoming anniversary update and windows 10 is all well and good but at the very core it is for gaming. All the other features are supposed to be secondary features.
Microsoft needs to bring its A game with the next-gen Xbox and close the gap between Xbox and PlayStation. If both consoles are not at par with one another I do not see why people would opt to buy the Xbox at all. People are not going to buy the Xbox for the exclusive titles forever.
With the PlayStation VR coming out later this year, the next-gen Xbox needs to be a perfect gaming device. But things might not be all bad for Microsoft. They can of course always opt to give users support for the Oculus Rift in order to compete with PlayStation VR.
The upcoming Radeon RX 480 GPU could also be a way forward for the new Xbox. The small form factor, low cost and amazing performance from the GPU could help Xbox come at par with he PlayStation Neo. If this is to be true then it would mean that Microsoft means serious business with their next-gen Xbox and that PlayStation would have some competition after all.
