ASUS GTX 1070 Strix Gaming Is Faster Than Founders Edition With Over 200 MHz Higher Boost Clocks
ASUS has introduced their GTX 1070 Strix Gaming, which is the first GPU to use their new version of DirectCU III cooler featuring ASUS Aura RGB lighting on both the shroud and backplate. ASUS ROG GTX 1070 Strix Gaming features a factory overclock of over 200 MHz on the GPU boost clock speeds over Nvidia’s Founders Edition.
The ROG Strix graphics cards sport millions of colors, as well as six different effects to suit your own gaming rig. This new lighting system is controlled via ASUS’ Aura software, which can also be used to control the connected ASUS RGB mice, keyboards and more.
Further, the 1070 Gaming Strix comes with an out-the-box performance boost when compared to the Founders Edition. The base clock speeds are bumped to 1683 MHz, with the boost clocks of over 1850 MHz for more demanding tasks. This gives the GPU over 150 MHz higher base clock and over 200 MHz higher boost clocks, making the card deliver better performance than Nvidia’s reference aka Founders Edition.

What’s more is that the GPU is the first to come with FanConnect technology, that lets you connect fans to your GPU. This would help you achieve optimal thermal performance, especially considering GPU temperatures are often higher than CPU temps.
ROG GTX 1070 Strix Gaming features two 4-pin GPU-controlled headers that can be connected to system fans for targeted supplemental cooling.
ASUS hasn’t revealed the availability and pricing details yet, but we know it will arrive after Nvidia’s GTX 1070 Founders Edition goes on sale on June 10th.
