ASRock Hyper OC Series Motherboards To Launch In July
ASRock has revealed its Hyper OC series of motherboards exclusive for BCLK overclocking, and plans to release these motherboards in July. However, not all of the product line of ASRock Hyper OC series motherboards will be released in July, only three boards will be available commercially; the H170 Pro4/Hyper, the B150 Pro4/Hyper and the H110-DS/Hyper.
All of these boards will be equipped with third party clock generator, that increases the BCLK of the CPU without increasing the clock speed of other components. However, H170 Pro4/Hyper is the most technically advanced of these three motherboards.
The H170 Pro4/Hyper uses the H170 chipset, so basically it offers the same amount of connectivity as Z170. Now H170 chipset has three main disadvantages over Z170 cipset, which are lack of overclocking, lack of multi GPU support and a lack of a few HSIO lanes.
However, the loss of few HSIO lanes does not have much of an impact on the boards performance. The real problem with the board, that gamers will agree with me is the lack of multi GPU setup. But ASRock Hyper OC series somehow overcomes this problem by using four lane PCIe connection to the chipset to operate a second GPU.
It won’t give the level of performance as Z170 with multi GPU setup, also the addition of overclocking capabilities of H170 chipset will also not offer performance level of Z170.
Enough about the H170 Pro4/Hyper, lets take a look at B150 Pro4/Hyper and the H110M-DS/Hyper. As of yet we have no idea about how much these boards will cost, but these board are expected to be priced around $100.
Considering the price these boards are tad bit expensive compared to low end Z170 boards, but since Z170 does not have any overclocking capabilities these boards will likely attract overclock enthusiasts.
H170 Pro4/Hyper is expected to be priced around $120.
