Report: Xbox One VR Game In Development, Might Release In 2017
Rumors have been circulating the Internet that Microsoft and Sony both are planning to release better and powerful versions of their already existing consoles so that they can handle VR games. Now, a new report has surfaced which suggests that Xbox One VR game is currently in development under a major developing studio.
According to the report, the game will be released in 2017, and Microsoft has plans to reveal the game at E3 2016. The report claims this information came directly from the developing studio.
The report further states that they are not at liberty to reveal the name of the game or the developer, but suggests that a well known European studio is developing a new VR game set in already established franchise.
This game will not only release for Xbox One but also for PC and PlayStation 4, and the E3 demo will be done on one of these platforms, however, it suggests that Xbox One is the most likely platform for the demonstration.
However, one thing in particular that makes us suspect the legitimacy of the report is that unlike SONY, there are no known plans by Microsoft for a VR headset. Although, there are rumors circulating the Internet that Microsoft is working on a new and powerful Xbox which will be compatible with Oculus Rift. According to the report the developer is least developing this VR game for Oculus Rift.
Oculus cofounder Palmer Luckey said in 2013 that the consoles are too limited to accomplish what we want to achieve with Oculus Rift.
The problem with consoles in general is that once they come out they’re locked to a certain spec for a long, long time. Look at the PCs that existed eight years ago. There have been so many huge advances since then. Now look at the VR hardware of today. I think the jump we’re going to see in the next four or five years is going to be massive, and already VR is a very intensive thing, it requires rendering at high resolutions at over 60 frames a second in 3D.
If the rumors are true then this upgraded Xbox One and Xbox One VR game will be revealed at E3 2016 and released in 2017.
