ASUS Gives First Look At ASUS VR During Computex 2016
The ASUS VR made an unexpected appearance at the Computex 2016 ASUS booth, giving the first look at the upcoming mobile powered VR headset.
The headset was available for display, however, ASUS did not provide any information regarding the headset not even the context. Despite the lack of any information regarding this ASUS VR headset, it is known that it will release in the second half of 2017.
Apparently, the headset has a width of 5.7 inches, so it is a possibility that the ASUS VR will be powered by the newly revealed ZenFone 3 flagship smartphone. Although, it is speculated that this mobile VR device can also be powered by Google’s new Daydream platform.
There are some features of this ASUS VR which are apparent, like a touchpad on the right side of the headset, a knob on the top of the headset so that users can adjust the focus.
One particular thing is leather straps tethered to the headset, which makes it quite familiar with ASUS ZenWatch smartwatch. ZenWatch runs on Android Wear but offers us muchmore than the standard Android Wear.
The specs for this smartwatch are:
- 1.63-inc, curved 320×320 AMOLED display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2 GHz processor
- 512MB RAM
- Bluetooth 4.0
Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have already released and with more VR headsets coming to market, it will be difficult to decide which one to buy. Specially these VR headsets are expensive equipment, and a normal user can’t just buy a headset for testing purposes.
ASUS has not yet officially announced its plans for VR headset, and the pricing and release date is yet unknown.
