AMD Crimson Edition 16.5.3 Beta Brings Optimizations for Overwatch, Total War: Warhammer
AMD has released its fourth update to Radeon Software Crimson Edition for this month. The new drivers, version 16.5.3 beta, bring optimizations for three games, along with fixes in the Crossfire and XConnect departments.
The latest titles to receive game specific optimizations from AMD include Total War: Warhammer and Overwatch which are both being released this week. AMD is also offering support for Dota 2 with a beta version of Vulkan API.
In addition to this, Crimson Edition 16.5.3 fixes minor stuttering in AMD Crossfire while playing Fallout 4, as well as texture flickering found when playing The Division with Crossfire enabled.
The release also resolves issues with Radeon Settings “Additional Settings” option which may intermittently fail to launch. Other resolved issues include:
- Users in Quad AMD Crossfire technology configurations may be unable to re-enable AMD Crossfire mode when using the global AMD Crossfire option in the “Gaming” tab and toggling it from on to off.
- Intermittent stability issues with Intel Skull Canyon NUC (NUC6i7KYK) using AMD XConnect™ Technology are no longer observed.
- Safe unplugging for AMD XConnect™ Technology no longer results in a random BSOD.
You can find AMD v16.5.3 hotfix drivers under the driver update section in Radeon Settings, or install them from AMD’s Radeon Software Crimson Edition download page.
