DOOM Has an Overall Better Performance on PS4 Than Xbox One
Bethesda’s long-awaited first person shooter video game DOOM is finally out, and if you’re wondering which console runs this game better, then Digital Foundry has got you covered. The site recently published a video that compares the frame rate and resolution for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.
DOOM delivers a solid experience on both PS4 and Xbox One; however Sony’s console has the edge, “but the Xbox One version is no slouch, either,” the site notes.
While the PS4 edition offers an overall better performance, there are occasional drops in resolution and frame rate. Despite this, you can expect a solid experience thanks in part to DOOM’s other under-the-hood features.
At 1080p, DOOM runs using a dynamic resolution on both PS4 and Xbox One, but One’s version can fall “well below” in terms of resolution in some sequences. However, the game delivers “very fluid animation” and “beautiful lighting and effects work” across both consoles.
The video also shows that players can adjust certain visual settings, for example, disable chromatic abberation and change things like field of view and motion blur, among others.
DOOM was released on May 13th on all three platforms.
