Nvidia GTX 1080 PCB Images Leaked, Equipped with 5+1 Power Phases
Nvidia has unveiled its flagship GTX 1080 and the card got quite a welcome. Internet has been discussing the specs of the card, and this time we are going to discuss the PCB of the card. New images of the GTX 1080 PCB have emerged on the web which give us a detailed look at the card.
According to the photos the card is equipped with 5+1 power phases, which more than what GTX 980 had but less than GTX 980 Ti. The PCB design of GTX 1080 is similar to that of GTX 980 as both these card feature an 8 memory layout on both sides.
There is only one 8-pin power connector in the pictures, but Nvidia has made room for another power connector in case AIBs want to modify the reference board.
It is unknown that the screw holes on the GTX 1080 PCB are in the same position as they were in older boards, which is important for the consumers who have custom cooler or brackets for additional cooling solutions.
The board is equipped with two SLI fingers and both are used for SLI high bandwidth bridge.
In related news, various custom versions of the GTX 1080 have been spotted online. Most intriguing of them is the Zotac GTX 1080 PGF with modified PCB, images of which recently leaked out. The card features huge illuminated backplate which can be controlled by an amazing desktop app.
Also, Galax has revealed its custom cooled GTX 1080 with a budget friendly cooling design and no backplate at all.
