Intel Launches New Skylake H Processors with ‘Crystal Well’ Integrated Graphics Core
Reportedly, Intel has updated its price list with three new “Skylake H” processors, including the Core i7-6785R, Core i5-6685R and Core i5-6585R. These new processors are designed to be used in desktop PC or laptops. However, what makes these processors notable is that these are loaded with high performance “Crystal Well” integrated graphics core that utilizes eDRAM cache.
These three processors feature four cores although Core i7 can handle eight threads, while other two Core i5 can only handle only four threads. All three of them have 1 MB of L2 cache, a thermal envelope of 65 watts, 72 execution units, Iris pro 580 Graphics with 128 MB of eDRAM and a GPU frequency between 350MHz and 1,150MHz. Also, DDR4-2133/1866 and DDR3L-1600/1333 memory are supported.
Core i7-6785R has 8MB of L3 cache, a default clock at 3.3 GHz with maximum clock speed of 3.9 GHz. Core i5-6685R has a 6 MB of L3 cache, a default clock speed of 3.2 GHz with maximum clock speed at 3.8 GHz.
Core i5-6585R supports 6 MB of L3 cache, default clock speed at 2.8 GHZ and maximum clock speed at 3.6 GHZ.
SpeedShift Technology built in the Skylake H architecture is one of the many benefits for these new processors. This tech will quickly increases the processor`s frequency for a short time to swiftly execute an operation.
These new processors also benefit from eDRAM, which acts like a DRAM buffer in the Skylake H architecture. Devices that require memory access through system agent, such as PCIe cards, can use eDRAM for faster read and write and speeding up a number of memory based scenarios.
The three new processors are available only for Intel’s partners. Given that they’re freshly off the production, don’t expect to see solutions based on these chips until sometime later this year.
