Minecraft Now Available on Gear VR- Compatible Samsung Galaxy Phones
Minecraft is the first thing that comes in mind when you hear the “most popular game” or the “construction based game,” but now you can also add VR to these as Minecraft VR is coming to Samsung Galaxy phones.
It is not the first time Minecraft has been tied to virtual reality trend, but most notably it has been tied to Microsoft`s HoloLens platform. With that out of the way, a little console competition will not stop Microsoft to make loads of money from Minecraft.
The VR announcement was made on developer Mojang`s blog. Android users are going to get a special VR version of this building and crafting game because this game already works on PC with Oculus Rift, which shares a lot of software technology with Samsung Gear VR, thanks to their strategic partnership.
Right now, Minecraft is breaking new grounds in three different platforms at the same time. The special Gear VR version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition is already in the proprietary Oculus Store for $7, accessible from the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, S7, S7 Edge, or Note 5, and all their innumerable variants.
The pocket edition of Minecraft is more complicated than the usual VR version because users won`t be able to use their phone`s touch screen while it is strapped to their faces. Playing the pocket edition of Minecraft VR needs to be done with external controls.
Any Bluetooth controller should be able to assist playing this game as long it is compatible with Android`s default controller profile. Presumably, Minecraft: Gear VR Edition will be updated along with the same basic schedule as the regular Pocket Edition for Android.
