MainGear Pulse 15 Pro Packs a Punch with Intel Core i7, and Nvidia Quadro M2000
MainGear is the manufacturer of the high-end PC and laptops for gaming and professional purposes. The US based firm has just unveiled a new workstation laptop called Pulse 15 Pro, which features 6th generation Core i7 or Xeon processors, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, M.2 NVMe SSD and Nvidia Quadro M2000 graphics card.
Pulse 15 was only available as a gaming laptop with a 6th generation Core i7 and a GTX 970M GPU. But, to address to the needs of professionals with a thin and light mobile computing option, MainGear has now integrate workstation class components in Pulse 15 Pro.
Pulse 15 Pro is both thin and light with just 0.75 inches thick and weighs almost 4 lbs. Pulse 15 Pro is available with a Core i7 processor for gaming or Xeon processor for professional, giving consumers a choice for their desired workload. Memory capacity in both models is the same 16 GB but choosing Xeon processor will get you ECC DDR4 RAM.
Compared to the GTX 970M with 6 GB of video memory in Pulse 15, the Pro features a Quadro M2000 with 16 GB of video memory. Both models can be equipped with Core i7 but like Quadro M2000, Xeon processor can only be used in Pulse 15 Pro.
In terms of storage, Pulse 15 Pro can be configured with two 256 GB Samsung 950 Pro SSD or two 512 GB Samsung 950 Pro SSD in a RAID 0 configuration for even faster storage speed and capacity.
This workstation also feature Gigabyte LAN, Intel Dual Band Wireless AC and a 1080 pixel camera. The battery for this workstation is six cell lithium-polymer which provides 5 hours of battery life on typical office workload.
Also, this workstation comes with Soundblaster Cinema speakers which should provide a suitable onboard audio experience. USB connectivity is limited to four USB 3.0 slots and the lack of USB-C is somewhat disappointing. It also comes in 8 different colors.
Right now, Pulse 15 Pro is available starting from $2,549 at the company`s website.
