Hitman Gets Patch 1.03; Improves DirectX 12 Performance, Adds New Challenges, and More
Last week, IO Interactive revealed that Hitman only gained 5-10% performance boost on AMD cards via DirectX 12 Async Compute, which a bit low than expected. According to IO, developers had to be a lot more careful when tweaking the memory on DirectX 12 because of lots of different PC configurations that need to be tuned.
Following that, a new major patch is now out for the latest entry in the Hitman series. The patch version 1.03 includes a number of performance enhancements using DirectX 12 render, which is crucial given numerous setup issues caused by DX12 option. In addition to this, the update brings new challenges and a host of other content, as well.
Hitman PC patch 1.03 adds DX12 shader and pipeline cache to all Steam builds. It also resolves a graphical issue with transparent windows as well as improves vertex colours on DX12.
On hardware front, the update fixes a rare issue where the game was switching between controller and keyboard controls, due to detecting specific hardware as a ‘game controller’.
Further, the game launcher now includes an option that allows players to override the ‘default memory safeguards’ so they’ll be able to use any available resolution and graphic quality settings. Not only that, but the resolution cap for players with 3gb graphics cards is also increased from 1920×1200 to 2560×1600.
General Game Improvements
The Vampire Magician Challenge Pack: 10 new challenges that were inspired by how our community have been playing the game.
Continued improvements to load times: The improvements will be most notable when loading The Showstopper mission in Paris and we’re already working on improving all loading times even more.
Improved responsiveness for in-game menus and image loading: We’ve implemented an image caching system that will improve responsiveness and loading times for all images in the game menu.
Fixed issues with scoring: Primarily, this fixes an issue that resulted in many players earning a “0 second” time bonus and an incorrect score of 210,000. A leaderboard reset will be implemented at a later date.
Continued improvements to connectivity: Server stability improvements.
Also, the update fixes various crash issues including loading a new stage in Escalation Contracts, loading the game or after exploding a gas cylinder, among others.
