AMD Polaris Based Radeon R9 490(X) Launches in June
New leaks have surfaced that suggest AMD is going to launch their Radeon R9 490(X) very soon this year, as soon as June. Not only that, it has also been leaked that the card is going to be based on AMD Polaris 10.
According to the leak at hand which has come out courtesy of HardwareBattle, the card is not just going to be a simple rebranding from Fiji and instead be based on Polaris 10 which opens speculation on another front.
On one hand, the Polaris 10 could be faster than the Fury X suggesting that Fury X is not going to be used for R9 490 series but instead for R9 480 series.
But on the other hand it could mean that the Fury X is faster which would ultimately mean that it will be up alongside R9 490 series for some time.
Moving on, alleged June launch of the AMD Polaris based Radeon R9 490(X) suggests that we could be looking at a preview event in May, courtesy of Computex 2016 which is scheduled to be held next month.
That makes sense since a preview as well as a paper launch should be expected a month before the allegedly official launch.
Looking to Nvidia now to see if their counterpart, the GP104 manages to be faster than the GTX 980 Ti if they want to race.
