Steam HW Survey: Windows 10 Surpasses Windows 7 by 3.98%
It is no secret that Microsoft is putting huge effort into making Windows 10 reachable to everyone and every device. Well, it seems that the continued efforts are finally paying off as Redmond revealed earlier this week that its latest version of Windows OS has reached 270 million active users.
Following that, the new Steam Hardware Survey is now seeing Windows 10 64-bit being the most popular operating system on Steam.
According to Steam Survey for March, Windows 10 has surpassed the predecessor Windows 7, as a huge 36.97 per cent of Steam users are running Microsoft’s latest OS. Compared to last month, the new OS jumped 2.96%, just enough to push it past Windows 7 which fell 1.22% to 32.99%.
The growth also indicates the rise in the popularity of DirectX 12 and Universal Windows Platform (UWP) games as they are both accessible only through Windows 10 portal.
As for graphics cards, Nvidia takes a huge chunk with 56 per cent of Steam gamers running GeForce cards, leaving AMD at just 25.5 per cent. Around 17.77 per cent Steam users are still using the integrated GPU on their Intel processor, while the remaining 0.38 per cent are “other” manufacturers.
The statistics from CPU owners reveal that Intel continues to be the most popular among Steam gamers with 76.67 per cent Steam gamers rocking an Intel processor of some sort, followed by AMD at 23.33 per cent.
