Windows 10 and DirectX 12 API has the Fastest Adoption Rate – Ever!
Microsoft has announced that its new graphics API DirectX 12 has the fastest adoption rate among all DirectX versions released in the past.
It can be attributed to the fact that the new API is exclusive to Microsoft Windows 10 which now has over 270 million active users worldwide; making it the fastest Windows adoption ever!
Speaking of this, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer said that with DirectX 12 API Microsoft is trying to make it easier for developers to produce video games and launch them across multiple platforms at the same time.
Despite the fact that we did not witness any significant improvements in games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, HITMAN, etc.; it is believed that as more and more developers try the new API out, things will begin to get better.
Ashes of Singularity which is an RTS launched today is another DirectX 12 supporting video game. Other than this, Quantum Break which is scheduled to release later this month for Xbox One and PC is another DirectX 12 API compatible title.
In related DirectX 12 news, AMD showcased the new AMD Polaris architecture running the recently released HITMAN at 1440p and 60 frames per second during the Capsaicin event – courtesy of the new API.
Moreover, it was also announced that the upcoming Total War: Warhammer will also support DirectX 12. The demo that was showcased displayed over 10,000 units on the screen at the same time.
